Astronomy in Pakistan

A lot has happened during the past 2 years. Although, I have given up on telescope making but not astronomy. In Islamabad, we have created Pakistan Astronomical Society (PAS). We are holding star parties on regular basis. Everyone is welcome to join us.

Update: I have bought a Zhumell 10 inch dobsonian telescope at last....the views are just simply great... I have made a movie through my telescope and it can be downloaded from here

To promote astronomy in Pakistan, I have started writing articles in Daily newspaper Dawn. Here are the links for my articles in Dawn

1) Star Gazing

2) Meteorites

3) Celestial Rendezvous

Please free to contact me on my email saqibsajjad@yahoo.com for any information related to Pakistan Astronomical Society or telescope buying related enquiries.

My name is Saqib Sajjad and I live in Islamabad. My hobby is astronomy and telescope making among other things. I have made a Galilean telescope and a Refracting telescope. I own a small Newtonian telescope.

Astronomy in Pakistan is at terrible state right now. There are no proper clubs, amateur astronomers, vendors, shops, suppliers.... nothing. Only club I was able to find was Lahore astronomy club (LAST). They were not able to help me in anyway, maybe because original people who made that club are no longer interested in astronomy.

In last one year, I have spent a lot of money on eyepieces, lenses, trips to different cities to find vendors etc. I have made a little bit progress. So if you are in Pakistan and interested in a basic telescope making, I can help you little bit.
